Miami Hurricanes Chad Thomas Appears On DJ Khaled Drake Single To the Max
For Chad Thomas, call it another one.
After producing the opening track for Rick Ross‘ latest alum, the work of Thomas, the University of Miami music student and football defensive end, may have partnered up with another Miami music mogul: DJ Khaled.
Thomas’ growling encouragement can be heard in “To the Max,” which features megastar Drake and was released on Monday to considerable online buzz. Additionally, Khaled’s beat may have sampled a track we believe Thomas produced in 2015.
We know this: the first few seconds of “To the Max” seem to be taken from an Instagram post Thomas made in 2015. From his dorm room at UM, Thomas sparked an online dance craze by filming former Hurricanes running back Gus Edwards gyrating to a beat he played. Thomas called it the “Get ‘Em Right Challenge” and asked his teammate, “What you gonna do, Gus?” Fans of Thomas’ work posted their own videos featuring their best dance moves.
